M100693: Adoption fails when managed devices retrieve packages from Linux distribution server

Summary

ManageSoft adoption fails for managed devices attempting to retreive the adoption package from a distribution server running Linux, due to an incorrect adoption command. This article provides a fix.

To set the adoption command that should be used by managed devices that retrieve their ManageSoft packages from a distribution server running Linux, complete the following steps:

Note: These instructions are case-sensitive. Enter commands exactly as recommended here.

  1. On your ManageSoft administration server, open regedit (Start > Run... > regedit).
  2. Navigate to the hive HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SOFTWARE/ManageSoft Corp/ManageSoft/Adoption/CurrentVersion.
  3. Change the AdoptionPackagePath registry key value to ManageSoft/ManageSoft for managed devices/7.51.5093/Rev1.0/ManageSoft for managed devices/ManageSoft for managed devices.
  4. Save the changes and close regedit.
The above path in step 3 relates to version 7.51 - for other versions change the number to match the relevent folder on the server (can be found in Software Library).
