This article describes how to install the Printable Reports feature pack for use with ManageSoft for Windows Deployment 7.0 when upgrading the core ManageSoft product to 7.2.
ManageSoft 7.2 reports have been enhanced to enable reports to be exported in a variety of formats, including PDF (.pdf, suitable for printing), Microsoft Excel (.xls), a text file of comma-separated values (.csv), and XML (.xml).
This functionality relies on reports being registered with Microsoft Reporting Services, which must be running on the server on which the ManageSoft reports server is installed. For details, refer to the Configuring reporting chapter in the ManageSoft Reference: Configuration.
This article describes the following options:
- Installing printable reports for use with ManageSoft for Windows Deployment 7.0 before upgrading to ManageSoft 7.2 (this is the recommended option if you are about to upgrade from ManageSoft 7.0)
- Installing printable reports for use with ManageSoft for Windows Deployment 7.0 if you have already installed or upgraded to ManageSoft 7.2.
To install printable reports before upgrading
To install the ManageSoft Printable Reports feature pack onto an existing ManageSoft 7.0 warehouse, complete these steps:
- From the ManageSoft Printable Reports feature pack installation media, double-click Managesoft Print Reports feature pack.msi.
The Welcome page is displayed. - Click Next.
The License Agreement page is displayed. - Read the license agreement. If you agree to its terms, select I accept the terms of the license agreement.
- Click Next.
The Choose Products page is displayed. - On this page it is important that you uncheck the ManageSoft for warehouse servers and ManageSoft for security patch management boxes. Only check the ManageSoft for windows deployment box.
- Click Next.
The Choose Reporting Services Database page is displayed. - Enter the appropriate details then click Next.
The Enter ManageSoft Database Details page is displayed. - Enter the appropriate details then click Next.
The Ready to Install the Program page is displayed. - Click Next.
The Install Wizard Completed page is displayed. - Click Finish.
You are now ready to upgrade to ManageSoft 7.2. For details, refer to the ManageSoft Upgrade Guide.
To install printable reports after upgrading
To install the ManageSoft Printable Reports feature pack onto an existing ManageSoft 7.2 warehouse, complete these steps:
- Make sure the location of the rs.exe executable installed with Reporting Services is in your PATH environment variable. By default, rs.exe exists in C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\80\Tools\Binn.
- Open a command prompt (Start > Run > cmd).
- Change directory (cd) to <MANAGESOFT>\Reporter\Examples\PrintableReports, where <MANAGESOFT> is the location of your ManageSoft installation (by default, c:\Program Files\ManageSoft).
- Rename the DeployManageSoftReports.rss and RemoveManageSoftReports.rss scripts (for example, KEEP_DeployManageSoftReports.rss). This is important so that you do not overwrite them when copying older versions of these files from the feature pack.
- Install the ManageSoft Printable Reports feature pack as described in To install printable reports before upgrading, above.
- When the ManageSoft Printable Reports Install Wizard is finished, delete the DeployManageSoftReports.rssand RemoveManageSoftReports.rss scripts from <MANAGESOFT>\Reporter\Examples\PrintableReports.
- Return the file names that you renamed in Step 4 to DeployManageSoftReports.rss andRemoveManageSoftReports.rss scripts.
