M100659: Obtaining the latest version of securityproducts.xml for use with ManageSoft Security Patch Management

The securityproducts.xml file is used by ManageSoft Security Patch Management to identify which products are installed on computers within an organization. From time to time new versions of this file may be made available containing updated and/or corrected settings used to detect installed products. This article describes how to obtain and use the latest and most up to date version of this file.

Updating securityproducts.xml

The securityproducts.xml file is used by ManageSoft Security Patch Management to identify which products are installed on computers within an organization. From time to time new versions of this file may be made available containing updated and/or corrected settings used to detect installed products. This article describes how to obtain and use the latest and most up to date version of this file.

Instructions

  1. Identify whether an update to securityproducts.xml available for your version of ManageSoft Security Patch Management in the Download Locations list below. If not, use the version of securityproducts.xml that is shipped with the Security Patch Management product.
  2. If an update is available, download the update from the specified URL and save it to the following locations under the ManageSoft folder on your core administration server (or the Warehouse folder if you are using a version older than ManageSoft Security Patch Management 7.5):
    Repository\SecurityPatch\products\securityproducts.xml
    Repository\Packages\SecurityPatch\Security Patch Settings for Microsoft Windows\microsoftwindows\securityproducts.xml
  3. Distribute the SecurityPatch\Security Patch Settings for Microsoft Windows package from your software library to all appropriate distribution locations.
