Q207814: Distribution fails if UAC is set to default on a 2008 R2 64-bit DS

Symptoms

Distribution will fail if the UAC level of a 2008 R2 64-bit DS is set to its default value:
Notify me only when programs try to make changes to my computer

It will be successful if the UAC is set to its minimum level:

Never notify me when:
Programs try to install software or make changes to my computer
I make changes to Windows settings

Cause

This is due to a defect in {Program Files}\ManageSoft\Replicator\ndlisten.exe in EDS for versions before 8.4. This has been fixed in version 8.4.

Workaround

Please stop the Connection Agent service on the DS, make a back up of the ndlisten.exe file, and replace it with the one attached. You can then restart the service and attempt a distribution.
