RVY200613 Logs and Services of RayVentory

This article describes the default locations of the log files and services used by RayVentory.

RayVentory Scan Engine

Services:

  • RayVentory Scan Engine HTTP Upload Server
    • Service Name: RayVentoryHttpUploadService
    • Receives inventory files via HTTP
  • RayVentory Scan Engine Scheduler
    • Service Name: RayVentoryScanEngineScheduler
    • Schedules and executes tasks created by RayVentory Scan Engine

Log-files:

  • %ProgramData%\Raynet\RayVentoryPortal\Results\Logs

Default location on target devices by Remote Execution inventory scans

Windows:

  • %windir%\Temp\Managesoft

Linux:

  • /var/tmp/managesoft.<UserName>/log/

 

RayVentory Inventory Agent

Services:

  • RayVentory Metering Agent
    • Service Name: RayVentoryMeteringAgent
    • Monitors process activity when Usage Data collection is configured

Log-files:

  • C:\ProgramData\Raynet\RayVentoryInventoryAgent

If ndtrack has been executed manually the Log-files will be created in:

  • %temp%\Managesoft

 

RayVentory Server

Services:

RayVentory Server does not require services, as it is using Scheduled Tasks to perform actions

Log-files:

  • The IIS logs are stored on the specified location in the IIS
    • The default location is: "%SystemDrive%\inetpub\logs\LogFiles"
  • If the custom log will be enabled with mgsimport.trace, you have to specify the log location.

Be aware: The custom log can grow very fast and if you are not careful, the system memory may fill up.

 

RayVentory DataHub

Services:

No services are need to run RayVentory DataHub

Log-files:

  • File storage:
    • The IIS logs are stored on the specified location in the IIS
      • The default location is: "%SystemDrive%\inetpub\logs\LogFiles"
    • C:\Program Files (x86)\RayVentoryDataHub\logs
  • In UI
    • Site-Administration →System Settings

 

RayVentory Data Hub Agent

Services:

  • RayVentory Data Hub Agent
    • Service Name: RayVentoryDataHubAgent
    • Data Hub Agent is an agent which collects data and executes jobs defined by the user inside the parent RayVentory Data Hub instance

Log-files:

  • LocalSystem: ​  C:\Windows\System32\config\systemprofile\AppData\Local\Raynet\RayVentory\Logs
  • User-Account: C:\Users\[USERNAME]\AppData\Local\Raynet\RayVentory\Logs
