For Windows
For troubleshooting purposes you can activate and configure the tracing via the ndtrack.trace file in the RayVentory Scan Engine installation folder (for example C:\Program Files (x86)\RayVentoryScanEngine\Contrib\ndtrack). Copy the ndtrack.trace file to the device running ndtrack into the same folder where ndtrack.exe is located.
Attention:
Please remember to deactivate the tracing if you no longer need it. Otherwise the trace file will grow very large in a short amount of time!
1. Activating/deactivating tracing
Look for the following line in the ndtrack.trace file:
filename=C:\temp\ndtrack.log
There might be a # in front of this line. Simply remove the # to activate the tracing or put it back in front of the line to deactivate it. Here you can also configure the output path of the trace file.
2. Tracing (inventory)
For taking inventory please check the lines in the ndtrack.trace file under "+Inventory". Make sure they look like this:
+Inventory
#+Inventory/Import
#+Inventory/Import/Cache
#+Inventory/Import/Database
#+Inventory/Import/Database/Details
#+Inventory/Import/Exceptions
#+Inventory/Import/InstallationRepair
#+Inventory/Import/OperatingSystemMapping
#+Inventory/Import/Parse
#+Inventory/Import/Parse/Details
#+Inventory/Import/Partial
#+Inventory/Import/Profile
#+Inventory/Import/RegistryTracking
#+Inventory/Oracle
#+Inventory/Oracle/Query
#+Inventory/Oracle/SDK
#+Inventory/VMware
#+Inventory/VMware/SDK
#+Inventory/VMware/SDK/Detail
This is an example for activating tracing. There are more tracing options in the ndtrack.trace. Just remove or add the # in front of a + sign to activate or deactivate a specific part of the trace.
For Unix/Linux
For tracing ndtrack.sh on Unix/Linux systems an ndtrack.trace file needs to be copied to the device running ndtrack into the same folder where ndtrack.sh is located.
Attention:
Please remember to deactivate the tracing if you no longer need it. Otherwise the trace file will grow very large in a short amount of time!
Not all versions of ndtrack.sh support tracing. You can use the ndtrack.sh and ndtrack.trace from the attached trace_ndtrack-dev.2021-04-09.zip file for troubleshooting.
1. Activating/deactivating tracing
Look for the following line in the ndtrack.trace file:

There might be a # in front of this line. Simply remove the # to activate the tracing or put it back in front of the line to deactivate it. Here you can also configure the output path of the trace file.
